How to sort out childcare?
Finally, think about childcare as early as possible so that you know what sort of cover is available for the hours you are asking for. It’s hard to believe but some nurseries have waiting lists of up to nine months! So if you’ve got your heart set on a certain nursery, it’s worth starting to investigate as early as when you’re 20 weeks pregnant. If possible, enlist your partner’s help. ‘Many women feel that the childcare load is solely on them, but your partner also has the right to ask for flexible working hours,’ says Rachel.
