How to ship a parrot?
Call the airline you are planning to ship with. (always use an airline, no ground shipping) They will tell you all the requirements. Be sure to put food in with the bird…no water. Put in sections of an orange (preferably a whole orange in sections) so he can get moisture from eating it. Even if it gets cold in the plane or at the airport, the bird will be ok, birds can take more cold than people think. Most of the time you can ship a bird in portable kennel, like you use for a dog. Be sure it is large enough that the bird can move around and flap a little, and put paper towels or news paper on the bottom so he does not slide around. You will have to use packing tape and wrap it completely around the kennel several times, to insure that if it drops, the kennel will not come apart. You must also wire the door shut very securly, but make sure there are no ends of the wire that can hurt the bird. A dog kennel allows plenty of air circulation and you can get one cheap.
