How to set up a chauffeur company?
This would be a high class taxi company and would come under private hire taxi rules. This means that all drivers and cars have to be licenced by the council in whose area the operating base is. They all have slightly different rules so you need to contact them about that and how much that bit costs The cars will have to be suitable – Big Mercs, Lexus etc and be insured for hire and reward as taxis. I realise you are not wanting to start a taxi service but you will fall under the same rules and licencing like it or not. In the area where I live the stretched limos have to be so covered. That is for you to control by pricing, not accepting pub and club type work and how you market your service. Just one thing – there did used to be a general council rule that cars over 3.5 litre did not need licencing and were not referred to a taxis. I think that again is a local council matter so ask them about that.
