How to select which schools to apply for and how many?
It totally depends on your own interest, time and you may want to apply for schools in different countries. Some students apply for more than 20 schools, some apply for as few as 5. Ranking could be a very useful to begin your search, however it’s not everything. A better strategy is to set your top goal, a school you really want to get in based on your personal ability and find alternatives then. Try to balance your choice among cost, academic reputation, location, career, your intended major(s), school services, size and some other factors. Don’t rush in decision making, try to use every resources, teachers, alumni, school guidance counselor, school website, etc. before you send in your applications. All school choices should be the ones you are very likely to go if you get admitted.
