How to roast coffee beans
Green coffee beans can be roasted at home in a heavy, well seasoned cast iron pan. Over a medium flame, stir the beans constantly for until you hear the first bean crack. It should sound like popcorn popping. Alight roast happens when the coffee finishes the popping sound. A medium roast will happen in about 3 more minutes, and a heavier roast will happen as the beans begin to crackle and sizzle, about three minutes more. A dark roast should have glossy looking dark beans. Sugar and cream anyone?
