Side mounted and Torsion are two different modes of garage door springs . Side mounted springs are heavy and long springs that are escalate on both the sides of the upper garage door track. These springs come under tension when the garage door is closed hence they make the lifting of door easier. The torsion springs are mounted on a fixed metal shaft located above and parallel to the top of the garage door frame. One of their ends is attached to a stationary plate located above the center of the door frame. The springs work by twisting as the garage door closes by means of cables attached to each side of the lowest garage door panel. The tension produced makes it easier to lift the garage door from its closed position.
