How to replace a .dll file in Windows ME without the windows file protection removing the file?
You must be in DOS mode to do this. The problem is that Windows ME does not have a DOS mode. To get around this, you will need a Windows 98 SE startup disk. Boot to that startup disk and then copy the desired .dll file to the proper location in windows. Usually that location is c:\windows\system32. After copying the file to the location, remove the start up disk and reboot the computer. The copied file should stay in windows this way, without being removed.
