How to repair drywall damaged by removing wallpaper?

We had this problem a couple of months ago. We removed the wallpaper from one of our bathrooms and found out the wallpaper was put on the plain drywall. The drywall hadn’t been primed in any way. We had to have the walls professionally refinished.
