I have wall papered alot and had to remove old wall paper too. The best I found (and fastest) is the Wagner Wallpaper steamer. It cost about $50 but is well worth the money. It bets DIF (which I think is useless) and anything else.

warm water with a mild detergent should remove the paste. Stubborn spots may require a little soaking with wet sponge.

put tin foil on the wall where the glue is Iron the wall until the glue becomes warm and soft grab a cloth and remove the glue from the walls

you need to remove all the paste. They make a chemical for this or there is some kind of steam machine (i an certain about the chem; machine uncertain). you are also going to have to prime with Kilz primer. Have fun; beau coup work.
