How to remove sand, colored organic contaminants, and a very soluble contaminant during recrystallization? ?

0

Add activated charcoal to the recrystallization solvent. The charcoal surface will adsorb the colored contaminant, because that will be a very polar, high-molecular weight substance. The soluble contaminant will never crystallize with the substance. After dissolving every thing up in boiling solvent, filter through filter paper, and that will remove the sand and charcoal. After the substance crystallizes from the chilled solvent, filter again, and the soluble contaminant will be taken away with the solvent.
