How to remove plaster of paris?
Hopefully, if you are right handed, you are talking about your left arm, or vice versa! Either way, have a buddy help you – you might even want to consider casting someone else’s arm before attempting your own. I worked in a commercial scupting studio after college – we did a lot of this kind of thing. You’ll need the mesh plaster bandage that you just have to dip in warm water to activate. You COULD buy the powder and mix it yourself, but it is VERY easy to get the mix wrong, and then your cast will never dry. The plaster bandages also set quicker. For the purest cast, shave the bare skin the plaster will come into contact with. You’ll need to create two seams on the cast. Try very thin carboard, cut into strips 1-2 inches wide, and in various lengths. Each half of the cast will need to be edged with these, so lay them down 90 degrees to your skin in layers of two, but be careful to only seam each of the two pieces of card to their respective halves of the cast, and not to each other.
