How to remove mould from a leather garment?

Saddle soap, wash than dry in direct sun light. Treat with light coat of Neatsfoot oil rub it in. Store the hat in a dry place when not in use. Store so that it gets air circulation under and around it. There are mold inhibitors that can be added to paints, but they are not something I would want in contact with my skin. I had some leather straps once get moldy and I used Lysol To clean them than saddle soap followed by Neatsfoot oil. So far the mold has not returned. I am more careful about storing leather for long periods now. Mold spores are microscopic and very hard to remove. they get into the pores of the leather. It may take a few cleanings. Alcohol only opens the pores of the leather allowing the spores in further. Use only soap. Try a touch of Lysol in the saddle soap. You may smell like a hospital for a while. Sun light inhibits mold growth. Neatsfoot oil restores the leathers suppleness and protects it. I use Fiebing’s Pure Neatsfoot oil You can get it on Amazon.com.
