I would have answered power hose or grit blaster but both of these items could severely damage both brickwork and pointing as a power hose will blast away the pointing and blast through window frames. Your git blaster may be OK if the correct grit is used so not to damage the hand made bricks speak to a Professional grit blaster as these machines could strip a house in a day but in DIY hands could do untold damage. Finally research your re pointing material as sand and cement mortar shouldn’t be used on a cottage of this period it should be lime and ash mortar as modern materials including paints will encourage damp inside and out.
