How to remain floating vertically?
to tread water you use your arms and legs to keep yourself afloat. You push down on the water with your arms and you kick with your feet. But if you are meaning just plain floating it is best to leave your arms at you sides and look straight up toward the sky. Also take note that some ppl are not a buoyant as others. fat will float and muscle will sink so if you don’t have much fat and you do have alot of muscle you may just naturally be less buoyant then your friends. Also buoyancy can depend on bone density. So don’t get discouraged.
