How to rejuvenate twenty yr old kitchen cabinets??
If you like the color of the exsiting cabinets, you can just refinish it. The surface of the finish or wood needs to be as clean as possible. Being clean prior to putting any finish on it means that it will be free of any residue whatsoever, other then the finish that is presently on it. I recommend rejuvenating finishes using a product such as Deft lacquer. One of the ways that it comes is in a spray can. All you need to do is a little fine sanding and then spray it on. I like to use the semi-gloss, as that is the easiest to touch up. Here is another idea I found for changing the style of the cabinets .
