How to reach IIT?
The IIT Madras campus is located on the Sardar Patel Road, half way between the Raj Bhavan and the Adyar bus terminus, that is about 12 Km from the Chennai Central Station. The other land marks are the Guindy snake park adjacent to the IIT main gate and the Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI) campus lying opposite to ours. The following are the ways to reach IIT from railway stations, airport and bus terminus: RAILWAY STATION – Chennai receives trains mainly at Chennai central station and Chennai Egmore station. CHENNAI CENTRAL – The bus stop is right opposite the central station. The direct buses to the campus are 19B and 5C. you can always take any 18 to Saidapet and from there a bus that goes to Adyar ( 5B, 47, 47A, 47D, 147, 23C ) will drop you in front of the IIT gate. Or else you can take a bus to adyar signal ( 1 LSS, 4LSS, 1A ,1C, 1D, 6A) and then get to IIT easily by taking the following buses (5B, 47, 47A, 47D, 147, 23C ).
