How to predict the life of Chrome Plating?
August 27, 2009 I had a sample handle chrome plated couple of months ago. It started rusting after a month. I’m an engineer by profession and I can’t get this out of my head how to determine the life of chrome plating. There is lot information available regarding the salt spray tests but none of them really give you a relation with the real life. Salt spray is a QC check and not a predictor because of the infinite amount of environments and uses. That said, 1 month is a sorry plate job for 99% of chrome uses.
