How to pitch songs to artists?
If a band is signed to an indie or mainstream label, you’re submitting unsolicited material to them, and they can get in serious trouble with their label if they give it a listen. If you’re sending it to unsigned artists, then it’s entirely up to them if they listen or not. Unless you’re writing the full song, with at least a guitar or piano accompaniment alongside the lyrics, you’re a lyricist and not a proper songwriter. There’s a very big difference between the two, but a lot of people don’t realize that.
