To paint wood paneling first fill in the grooves. You can use joint compound to fill them in. Smooth the filler & leave it to dry then lightly sand over the fill in with sandpaper. Next step you’ll have to prime the paneling. An Oil based primer is best to use. After this dries you can start painting. Eggshell enamel is great to use on paneling.
