How to Pack a Grandfather Clock?
You should pack a grandfather clock by doing the following: remove the weights, remembering which order in which they hung. Pack the weights and pendulum in proper padded boxes. Secure the chains so they don’t fall off the sprocket wheels or the cables so they don’t tangle around the winding drums. The chime rods should be secured with moving devices or padded with foam or bubble wrap to keep them from vibrating and breaking. The hanger (from which the pendulum hangs should be secured so it doesn’t free swing in the move. Insure all case parts such as doors, removable panels and finials are secured or removed. You could also use professional movers but that could get expensive.
