You must continue to strengthen the trace of the information as it moves to long term memory so that you mind pays more attention to it, resolving into you remembering it. Another way to help with rehearsal is not just to read the poem, but to say it aloud a lot, also another helpful method is to record yourself saying it and play it back a lot – this will help if you’re more of an audio-learner. Also, the recording/listening method have been said to be successfully when listened to at night, so it couldn’t hurt to try and sleep with earphones on.
