How to Meet the Challenge of Diversity in the French System of Education?
” The purpose of this paper is to think about the educational system in France in terms of equity/equality in order to meet the challenge of diversity. This presentation is divided into two parts: the first will draw a picture of the situation of the educational school system in France in terms of discrimination and geographical segregation; the second part will discuss the ideal of diversity regarding to political, theoretical and ideological debates in the Anglo-Saxon world and in France. I will focus especially on the conflicts and the changes that occurred in the U.S. universities concerning the application of Affirmative Action and the consequences in terms of rerouting by the geographical situation as a criterion of selection. Then I will discuss the necessity of restoring a strong argumentation in terms of Racial Diversity in France and in the U.S. In conclusion, I will open the perspectives for the new demand of the European Community concerning the application of a form of Aff
