how to manage incremental backups?

I have an office computer that uses Backup to do incremental backups of a data folder called Database Backups every day to idisk. This folder has a new 500MB worth of data every day. I start with a full backup of the initial 500MB. My question is — when the idisk is full, do I need to clean out the Database Backups folder and start with a new full backup, or can I do the following. Leave everything in DataBase Backups, and just delete all the incremental backups on the idisk, leaving the initial full backup. In other words, let’s say the initial full backup is file #1. Thenon days 2 thru 20 the incremental backups do files #2 thru 20. Can I just delete the incrementals 2 thru 20 from the idisk, but leave them in the database folder? Will Backup want to back up 2 thru 20 again if they are not on the idisk, or will it just back up file #21? This may sound like a weird question, but the computer is being backed up at the office, and I often work from home. Thanks.
