How to make “User Centerd Design / Usability” and “Product Management” teams collaboration effective in software industry?
Usability experts / User centered designers talk to the ‘end users’ of products to understand their requirements so that their product can be effectively and easily used for the purpose it is meant for. Product Managers talk to ‘customers’ to find out which feature should be built into the product so that it will sell well in the market. Many a times both the teams end up in recommending similar requirements for the next version of the products but sometimes they come with conflicting requirements. Should the requirements gathered from ‘End users’ who actually work on the software product be given preference over what Product managers perceive as ‘Salable feature’? How can these two teams collaborate in an effective way?
