How to make papier mache dry more quickly?
Question: I have made something with papier mache and left it overnight, in a warm room. However, it is still very damp. I don’t think it has dried at all! It wasn’t particularly damp or runny to begin with. Does anybody have any tips on how to get this to dry quicker as I am really looking forward to painting it! Chosen Answer: I set the item on the rack in the oven with the oven door cracked about an inch or two open – That lets the moisture escape rather than condensing. I set the oven on the lowest setting possible (around 100 – 150 degrees F.) the things I did were had walls about an inch to inch and a half thick and dried in about three hours. If you set the item on a pan then moisture gets trapped inside the area touching the pan. Racks are best.
