How to Make Chocolate Chip Cookies from Scratch
Ingredients: 1 c plus 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 cup (1stick) butter, 1/2 cup packed brown sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, 1 large egg, 1 cup (6 oz package) Semi-sweet morsels, 1/2 cup nuts (optional). Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Combine: flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Beat butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl until creamy. Beat in egg. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels. Drop by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes. Move to wire racks to cool completely. For some variation try adding nuts, M&M’s, dark chocolate, white chocolate or peanut butter morsels. You can also spread the mixture out into a 13 x 9 pan and cook for 12 – 15 minutes then slice the cookies into bars once they are cooked.
