How to make a Work Experience letter less formal?

If you’re going to work in Journalism, you need to be able to write appropriately for different audiences. In this case, you don’t need to be too formal. You aren’t applying for a job, you’re a 6th form student and you need to get across your enthusiasm to learn and language skills. Dear Sir/Madam, I am looking for some work experience in journalism. Since the Yorkshire Evening Post is the centre of the county’s news, and has an excellent reputation for the quality of its reporting, I’d be grateful for an opportunity to work in any department, experience different areas of journalism and see your journalists at work. I am currently studying at Horsforth School, and enjoy studying ICT, Media and English Language. Once I have completed my second year in sixth form I am hoping to study Journalism at University.
