How to learn to play electric guitar well?

If i was you id start off with either a Squire Strat by fender (they are not too expensive, around £120/$150 and they usually come with an amp). Or, choose a decent strat copy (make sure it sounds okay before you buy it though) that costs half as much incase you decide that you dont want to continue playing electric. Also, id buy a beginners guitar training book, they explain it really clearly and some come with a DVD that really helps you get the rythm. (Tabs are probably easier than sheet music if you have no prior musical knowlage) A teacher would also be a good idea to help explain about scales/octaves/bar chords etc that can be hard to understand if you are just reading from a book. As for the stiff fingers, try not to put too much pressure on the pick, or hold it too tightly as this is the main cause of stiff aching fingers.Make more fluid, smooth strokes when strumming. I remember when i first started playing, my fingers were always stiff and painful, then i relised i was holdin

I would start with a Squier Strat. They’re pretty much beginner versions of Fender Strats, and they are definitely worth it. Also, I would recommend that you learn how to alternate pick as quickly as possible (upstroke downstroke, etc), because speed is key to an electric guitar. You can find various youtube videos that can help you with this, but you probably want to wait a little bit before you jump into alternate picking. Just make sure you know the basic structure of a power chord and practice your finger speed along the strings. Good luck, just practice practice practice my friend.
