How to kill Bermuda grass in garden?
Bermuda propagates by roots and seeds. So, don’t let is go to seed which is nearly impossible and of course you’ve got to get the roots. Bermuda roots can be 3 or more feet deep. And, if they detect any moisture, they’ll send up shoots. You can call around to nurseries and try to get some 20% vinegar. Spray it on the bermuda–not your veggies. You’ll see the plants dead in a few hours. Then dig it up and pull the roots up. Burn them, don’t put any in your compost pile. It’s safe to plant in soil that’s been sprayed with vinegar. Grocery store (salad and pickling vinegars) are better than nothing but nearly as good as the nursery stuff. You’ve got to keep at this. It isn’t a one shot deal. If there’s Bermuda growing anywhere around it will come back. But, this method will at least keep the stuff under control. I don’t use Doomsday or like products near my veggies. But, it’s great for the driveway edges and such. If you notice a neighbor planting Bermuda, whack him in the head with a 2 X
