How to Keep Cut Flowers Fresh
If your cut flowers have come from a shop, cut off the bottom inch of the stalk at a slant before placing them in the water. Snip off any leaves that will sit under the water line in the vase. Be sure to change the water every couple of days. You can use a commercial preserving powder in the water, or use a combination of 1 quart of water, two tablespoons of lemon juice, one tablespoon of sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of bleach.
