The version you downloaded of MAME is by the orignal creators you need to place the Samurai Showdoan rom in the rom directory and read the FAQ on the MAME site to read how to run the emulator or download previous version 0129 it has a working exe file to run. The best advice I can give you as a MAME fan myself is visit the emulator-zone.com and download MAME32 or MAMEUI32 they are GUI based emulators that you can see the entire rom list and find out if your game is in working/non working status and is updated more frequently newest version Jan 2009.
