It should install just fine on a Windows 7 machine using compatability mode and installing Vista drivers. Those will also have the advantage of being the latest driver. The reason the driver CD isn’t working is due to bad methods of determining what version of Windows and Internet Explorer you are running. It is looking in places that on old XP it might have said, but not under Windows Vista or Windows 7. With Vista they tightened up security a lot, so some of the old methods that relied on admin access and such don’t work unless you give the program admin access from the start (right-click and “Run as Admin”).
