My son is 8 months old and I still have plenty of milk although sometimes can only get 1oz total by pumping. If I pump after my son eats I am lucky to get more than a few drops. If I want to get any milk after he feeds I need to pump continuously even with no milk coming out for a good 30min then I get a second let down. You might try a better pump and check to see if you have the right size flange. Medela has some good pumps and you can also check with your hospital about renting one. Your son might be fussing at the breast because he has become use to having the milk instantly by bottle. When you breastfeed it takes a minute for the milk to come out and it’s a lot more work. Try pumping just until the milk really starts flowing then stop and put your son on. He will be far more efficient than the pump no matter how you have to get him on there and feeding well.
