….I recommend students read their essays backwards. Your brain reads the pace and fills in mistakes because you “know” it so well in that form. When you read the essay starting with the last sentence first, you’ll discover more typos, usage problems, and missing words. You’ll also be able to see how the sentences stand alone. Read it OUT LOUD. Again, when you read it in your head, your head will “fix” those mistakes subconsciously. It sounds like you may have a problem with sentence structure. Try simplifying your sentences for a while. I have some students who tend to write the longest sentences ever that could be broken into three separate sentences! Once you have mastered the basic sentence structure, work up to more complex structures. Plus, it always helps to read. I recommend the newspaper.
