How To Identify Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Classroom ?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a highly prevalent psychological problem of children with as much as 5-10% of school going children suffering from it (The Britannica Encyclopedia, 1999.).Although no definite statistics were found, recent studies point to a significant increase in incidences of ADHD in India, but the ignorance surrounding it is worse (India Today, 2000.). Educationists have most important role towards this as first suspicions of an individual child suffering from it comes via teacher who notices child’s different behavior in comparison to the class. It will therefore be logically appropriate to enable teacher to identify ADHD in classroom for everybody’s benefit. Typical problems attached with the ADHD are inattention, distractibility, restlessness to sit still and difficulty in concentrating on any thing for any period of time.
