How to i become a better runner! please help?
You become a better runner in two ways really. One is that you just falt out run more, its not uncommon for high schoolers to run 40 or even more miles per week, many college cross country runners are running 70-100+mpw and some olympic athletes even run 140+ mpw, and some of these guys are just training for the 1600m (very nearly 1 mile). The other thing you have to do to get better is to have some “quality” or fast running in you’re workouts. A sample of a week I might run looks something like this: Mon- 6M @ Easy Pace or slower Tue – 12 x 400m @ VO2 Max Pace; this totals to about 6 miles Wed – 8M @ Easy Pace Thurs – 6M Tempo Run (Tempo Pace) + 1M warm-up and 1M cool-down Fri – 12M – Easy Pace Sat – 6M – Easy Pace Sun – 14-18M Long Run @ Easy Pace – Easy Pace + 30 sec/mile The tue and thursday workouts are workout types that help you run fast, and all the other days serve to build endurance and improve the aerobic side of the cardiovascular system.
