There are as many techniques are there are people growing hydro in fish tanks. The glass sides of the tank are covered so that no outside light will enter the chamber if the tank is the reservoir. You create net pots by filling with soil and adding the plant. You place the net pots in the tank with a pump to provide oxygen. You will also need some sort of internal light source.
