How to Get Rid of Strep Throat
To get rid of strep throat, antibiotics are prescribed that kill the bacteria. Most episodes of strep throat last between seven and ten days. After this, the bacteria are removed by the lymphoid tissue associated with the immune system. Sometimes, the bacteria remain after the symptoms go away, but not enough are left to cause infectious symptoms. It is impossible to completely get rid of all bacteria, but antibiotics generally kill enough to eliminate symptoms as the immune system takes over.
