The red algae yo have is really cyano bacteria. It is caused by over abundance of nutrients. Nutrients like phosphate and nitrate. Using a protein skimmer and doing regular partial water changes with RO source water will help reduce this problem. I suggest you control it with animals as well. Along with good protein skimming and regular water changes, add a series of janitor snails. This is a common name collection of Turbo snails, cerith snails and a few other species. These janitor packs also have some small hermit crabs. This collection of assorted life helps eat many undesired algaes and groom the rocks. Your main source of phospahte the leading caused of red algae is your tap water. I suggest you get an RO filter to eliminate the phosphate.
