First, fear is a natural phenomenon, and is necessary for self preservation. There is nothing wrong with having fear, BUT on the other hand, irrational fear is not good, and should be confronted. For example, to walk or stand on the edge of the roof of a ten story building IS a dangerous situation and one should be aware of and fearful of the potential for falling and death. This is just as true for the example in your question regarding the rollercoaster. Rollercoastes, and other similar rides are carefully engineered, designed, built and maintained to be safe. Therefore the fear you describe is irrational and not productive to your learning to development of courage.
