Are you sure that they’re fleas ? Normally fleas are wingless and just jump and bite. If they are flies, any household fly killer should work. However, you need to locate the source – they are pupating from some source and turning into flies. Usually you would expect flies to lay eggs on meat products or fruits. Once you’ve located the source, spray with insecticide and seal tight in a plastic bag. Then chuck it into the deep freeze for a couple of days before incinerating it or disposing of it in the bin. It is important to make sure that none of these non-indigenous species gets out into the environment or they could cause severe damage to our food sources.
Borax kills fleas. You can sprinkle borax on the carpets and furniture but it must be left on the surfaces for at least 3 days to work. After 3 days you just vacuum the borax up. You must wear a mask when sprinkling the borax because while the borax is non-toxic to humans it can cause respiratory irritation. If you have pets you must remove the pets from any areas where you have sprinkled the borax until after you have vacuumed all of the borax up.
