How to get into shape for softball? ?
To get in good shape for softball I would do a lot of crunches, push-ups, lunges, and other exercises similar to that. You will need to have a lot of lower-body strength for sprinting and being able to throw faster. Last year my team started training in November and did a lot of long-distance running mixed with short sprints. Also, what helped us a lot was running up and down the stairs at our school.
If you haven’t played softball at all, I’d say that you should ask your friends to play catch, batting practice, and fielding. Don’t work on pitching if your just beginning. You should work out your stomach for strength while your batting. You should do yoga to be limber for defensive plays. Also, some short sprints would be good for baserunning. Im trying out for softball in the spring too. Don’t get too caught up in your other teammates because some people that’ve played for a while can get a little cocky. As the spring gets nearer, try not to psych yourself out because then you’re just going to make youself nervous.
