How to get free animation program just 2d?
I studied art in college and use Linux now and will occasionally do animation. I like to say I don’t use any program. Bluntly, if you are going to do animation unless you are a whiz, the only two workable alternatives are that $600 stuff and doing all your frames by hand in a paint program then assembling them with something like Imagemagick or gif animator. Which probably requires as much computer and design wizardry as running blender but of a different sort (I sometimes animate something with Imagemagick two or three times till the mpeg I’m doing starts to show artifacts — pixels which change color and I can decide if that is interesting. Painters tend to like my stuff. Animators and engineers no). Synfig stinks. It has thrown some really complicated animation controls on top of a vector drawing program like Illustrator — which is one commercial product and the only one in the Adobe Suite I do NOT like.
