if you have windows xp (same in vista) right click on my computer and select manage click disk management right click on your drive and select format now you will only be able to get NTFS this way for FAT32 click start go to run type in cmd then type in format x: /fs:FAT32 where x is your drive letter FAT32 is old school if you have older computer like win 98 you need to access this drive on and is probably the default file structure that your disk came with mine did BUT with NTFS you can “compress” the drive and get a few extra gigs out of it
