How to fix microwave bracket to wall (external / plasterboard)?

I have hung several hundred. They hand on the back wall but they also hold on the cabinet above. There are wing bolts that come for dry wall plaster . There is usually a wood strip behind somewhere. Run an knief along and find it and then put cabinets screws with nice washer heads anywhere on the bracket so the it holds into the wood strip. Now you have to measure to drill into the upper cabinet for the bolts to go down.
