How to estimate synth upload time?

Is there a good method to estimate the time for uploading of files to MS servers? The first thing I would need to estimate is the amount of data that will be sent. I know the size of all the images I will upload vs. the amount that is sent it is less than the total size of all the jpgs. From one test, I estimate this to be about 35% less than the actual files. Can anyone confirm this or give more info on the amount of compression? I’m using NetLimiter to see that the upload starts right away. Then I check the total size of all the images. That size minus about 35% then gives me an idea how much will be sent, so I just watch NetLimiter to see that things are moving along OK and I can gauge how long before the upload reaches the estimated sent size. This is just my “babysitting” method for Photosynth right now. I’ve had several problems that I let go for too long, rather than just rebooting and starting over.
