Ans.: For entering certain characters in Malayalam, Tamil etc. the Nukta key has to be pressed in addition to the basic alphabet. For example, the extra trilled after the ra key. The zh sound of Tamil and Malayalam is entered by appending a Nukta after the Shift-la key.
