How to eliminate the pungent odor of soda ash in laundry soap?

Try mixing the soda ash with powdered charcoal, then extract the charcoal by mixing with boiling water. After the charcoal has settled, decant the soda ash solution. The charcoal should absorb most of the odour. Alternatively, mix chopped parsley with the soap. Parsley seems to neutralise most odours. Can’t say I’ve ever tried either of these though.
