The only way to get better at these exercises is to do them regularly. You need to come up with a good well rounded PT plan and stick to it regularly. Do push up variations for time i.e. 1 minute a piece: regular push ups, wide arm push ups, and close hand push ups. Same thing on sit ups but do regular sit ups, rockies(coming up and touching alternate elbows to knees) and crunches. You can also throw in flutter kicks, leg spreaders, and squat thrusts to add some variety.
