How to delete an alpha pattern in memory?

Help … I can’t delete a stored pattern. I have stored alpha patterns in 3 memories and can recall them. So far, I have been unable to delete them. When I try to delete a pattern (by following Step 3 on page 64 of the Operation Manual,) the DELETE key is unavailable (enclosed in dashed lines.
